Recording artist Jessie Malakouti has been tapped for a yet-to-be-named role on One Life to Live.
"Packing for [Connecticut]," Malakouti posted on Twitter. "About to film my television acting debut!! #Excited #OLTL"
While Malakouti doesn't have any television acting experience under her belt, she is an established musician. As the singer for the group Jessie and the Toy Boys, Malakouti is signed to Prospect Park Records -- the same Prospect Park whose television arm owns the rights to One Life to Live and All My Children.
Jessie and the Toy Boys have served as the opening act for Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj. Malakouti is also said to be working on material for her debut solo album.
There's no word on exactly who Malakouti will be playing, but the announcement that her character will play an "aspiring musician" has definitely set the Internet speculation machine into overdrive.
With reports earlier this week that ABC had decided to bow out of the legal fight to use three former One Life to Live characters on General Hospital, a number of fans are wondering if Malakouti might be playing a recast Starr Manning. Past storylines have featured Starr in her attempts to become a professional singer. Though unconfirmed and nothing more than chatter at this time, the singer-slash-actress is only a few years older than actress Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning).
Prospect Park did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
