Annie Wersching, whose acting career included a role on General Hospital, has died of cancer. She was 45.

Actress Annie Wersching, known for numerous memorable television roles including a stop in daytime, has died of cancer. Wersching was 45, her publicist confirmed.

Wersching's husband, actor Stephen Full, released a statement, saying, "There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn't require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. 'Go find it. It's everywhere.' And find it we shall."

"As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world," Full continued. "I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. 'I love you little family...'"

Wersching played the role of Amelia Joffe for a six-month period in 2007. She eventually exited the ABC soap to take a role on the Emmy-winning FOX primetime series, 24.

In 2020, following her diagnosis, Wersching continued acting. She landed a prominent role as the Borg Queen in the second season of the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Picard. She also appears in HBO's new drama The Last of Us.

Jon Cassar, director and producer of 24, also shared a message of tribute to Wersching. "My heart is broken in more pieces than I can count. Annie came into my world with an open heart and a contagious smile. Brandishing such talent, she took my breath away. Annie became more than a workmate, she became a real friend to me, my family and every cast and crew member that worked with her," Cassar shared. "She'll be truly missed by them and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie you'll be missed, you left your mark, and we're all the better for it."

General Hospital released a statement on its social media pages along with a photo of Wersching engaged in some soapy action. The statement read, "The entire cast and crew of General Hospital was deeply saddened to learn of Annie Wersching’s recent passing. We couldn’t be more thankful that she was able to portray Amelia Joffe and our thoughts are with her friends and family. Rest in Peace."

Wersching was born and raised in St. Louis by parents Sandy and Frank. She is survived by her husband and children, Freddie, Ozzie, and Archie.

A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family.
