Daytime Emmy-winning The Young and the Restless alum Shemar Moore (ex-Malcolm Winters), who went on to star as Derek Morgan on the CBS hit primetime drama Criminal Minds, was robbed of more than $60,000 by his former pal and colleague, Keith Tisdell, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Tisdell was convicted of the crime on Wednesday of last week, and he and Moore reached an agreement that states Tisdell, who played Rodney Harrison on two episodes of Criminal Minds, must pay Moore a total of $61,084 in order to avoid jail time. If he pays back the money and stays out of legal trouble for the next three years, the conviction may be expunged from his record, the judge said.
Moore and Tisdell met while filming the same season 8 episode of the popular nighttime series, and after becoming fast friends, Moore invited his new pal to work with him at his charity, Baby Girl LLC, which raises funds for those battling multiple sclerosis (a disease which Moore's mother battles). Tisdell was initially arrested in January on suspicion of embezzlement after Moore reportedly realized during an audit that money was missing. Tisdell later admitted to grand theft.
The robbery news comes hot on the heels of another Criminal Minds star making headlines: Thomas Gibson (Aaron Hotchner) has been fired from the CBS series after allegedly kicking a head writer in the leg during filming several weeks ago.
"Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds," a joint statement from ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios reads. "Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date."
